    Question

Hey all! I'm just starting out on my second short! The first one I finshed about 2 weeks ago!!!!!!! Yay for me. Anyway, I want to know if you'll believe the plausibility of this premise. If you don't, please tell me why and give suggestions. You can e-mail them to me at [email protected]. (I got rid of the e-mail address I used to register here) Ok, here's the idea: A con woman gets her money by playing poker. If people don't pay up she will kill them after making sure she'll get the money after they die. (legally or not) She's known as a serial killer. A detective is hired by one of the victim's wives to go on the case. The catch is that the serial killer/con woman is the detective's fiancee. The detective doesn't know this. The girl gets beat at her own game one night and needs a lot money. Because the detective wrote her into his will after proposing, she'll get a nice sum of money if he dies. It's a race against time for the detective to solve the case, or be killed in the line of duty. Please respond or just write me at [email protected]

    Thanks,
    Paige

    I think its brilliant.

It mixes full blown mystery and intrigue with heartwrenching thrills.

    Seriously.

I think as soon as you make it I would love to watch it. And that's a compliment. My tongue is firmly out of my cheek.

So, when can I see the first?

Should make a nice Hollywood-style thriller. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't give the clues away too early - or make it totally unbelievable like so many Hollywood crime capers

Wow, that's the first good idea i have read on here. very good plot development. You could make lot of the fact that we don't realise these peoples connection to each other until certain points.
this would make a good comedy too, in a Whole Nine Yards kind of way. If so you could make even more connections, for instance the victims wife could know the serial killer as a friend.

A major factor to think about is whether you make the killer or private dick the main character. You coul give them equal importance in a magnolia kind of way, but i like the idea of makeing the private detective the hapless victim in the whole charade whereby the film reaches an almost slapstic climax as connections are made, plot lines develop new plot lines and characters reveal there own agendas.

How short is this short going to be? It sounds good enough to be a full length. But what do I now. All I've done is write screenplays. And only parts of them.
